主讲人简介：

Dr. Mengyan “Ian” Li is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science at New Jersey Institute of Technology, specializing in groundwater and soil remediation and water/wastewater treatment. He received his MS and PhD degrees in Environmental Engineering at Rice University. Since 2008, Dr. Li has been researching biodegradation and biotransformation of emerging contaminants (e.g., 1,4-dioxane, PFASs) and has developed a number of genetic forensic tools, such as a biomarker assay to quantify the intrinsic attenuation rate of 1,4-dioxane. That work won him the Honor Award in the Excellence in Environmental Engineering and Science competition held by the American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists. Lately, his group at NJIT has discovered a novel bacterial enzyme that breaks down 1,4-dioxane. This study has been featured on the cover of Environmental Science and Technology Letters in its issue of February 2018 and honored with the “ACS Editors’ Choice” and 2018 CAPEES Founding President Best Paper Award..
